  • I think the course is really good because you can log back out and save your spot within the module. The modules seemed very precise to the point with images that associated to the particular topic which made learning interesting.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott announces tough new rules on food labelling

21/07/2015 - 12:19 pm

COUNTRY of origin labels will be placed on all food made or processed in Australia showing consumers exactly how much of their product is Australian.

The Prime Minister said he hoped the initiative would begin on a voluntary basis from the end of the year and legislated by next year.

“Consumers will know what they are buying is Australian. This is something the Australian public have wanted for a long time.”

The government put out a survey for community consultation that received over 17,000 responses. Overwhelmingly the responses have been that people are prepared to pay that to know its Australian.

The new labels incorporate a Made in Australia logo with a bar showing the percentage of Australian and international ingredients.
