  • We have found the online program very easy to use and very comprehensive and it has fitted perfectly with the food safety requirements of our business.

    John - Manager

  • I think the course is really good because you can log back out and save your spot within the module. The modules seemed very precise to the point with images that associated to the particular topic which made learning interesting.

    Krystle - Training Manager

  • I always find CFT staff very helpful and efficient when we need anything, nothing is too much trouble.

What food safety training do I need?

23/10/2013 - 2:23 pm by: Margret Leslie

Your State Health department will have details of Food Safety Supervisor training required for each industry sector.

For instance if you work in an aged care centre, childcare, disability services or hospital you serve what is referred to as “vulnerable populations “ and need the HLT units from the Health and Community Services training package.

If you work in a café, restaurant, school canteen or retail food outlet you need the SIT units from the hospitality training package.

Whereas if you work in a bakery, food manufacturing and processing you need the FDF units from the food processing industry training package.

But sometimes a business falls into a grey area in defining the industry i.e a bakery with a coffee shop attached, School with a Kindergarten, if you are unsure of which industry you are in it is best to ask the local environmental health department as they approve food business registration and Food safety supervisor qualifications.
